The Gemini New Moon Is Not What You Think It Is (And That’s Kind of the Point)
A Mental Reset With a Deeply Emotional Catch
This Sunday, June 14th, 2026, at 10:53 PM EST, the Sun and Moon are meeting up in Gemini to kick off a brand new lunar cycle. If you’ve been waiting for a sign to start fresh, this is it!
The intentions, goals, and mindsets that you plant now have roughly 29 days to build momentum, but the real harvest won’t arrive until the Full Moon in Gemini on November 24th. So think of Sunday not as a sprint but as the first page of a mental chapter you’re writing through the end of the year.
Gemini energy is quick, curious, witty, and communicative. It rules the way we think, the way we talk, and the way we scroll, respond, and connect. New Moons in Gemini are typically breezy, idea-driven, and social, so intentions around learning something new, having better conversations, and maybe even launching that project you’ve been thinking about are all usually ideal.
But this New Moon is doing something a little different.
In astrology, every degree of the zodiac carries its own story and symbolic weight. This New Moon landing at the 24th degree of Gemini falls under what’s called a Pisces decanate. That means the usual Gemini “let’s logic our way through it” vibe gets a major upgrade into something far more intuitive, emotional, and, honestly, a little harder to articulate. Which, ironically, is exactly what it’s asking us to sit with.
A decan (short for decanate) is a ten-degree subdivision of each zodiac sign, and each decan carries the energy of a secondary sign. The second decan of Gemini (20° to 30°) is co-ruled by Pisces and influenced by Jupiter and Neptune—Pisces’ planetary rulers.
This is why a Gemini New Moon at this particular degree feels less like a brainstorm session and more like a dream you can’t fully describe when you wake up.

And it’s also why the 24th degree has a reputation for touching subconscious material: the things you haven’t said out loud yet, the stories you’ve been telling yourself behind the scenes, the fears that live in your nervous system rather than your conscious mind. Themes of victimhood or helplessness can definitely surface at this time, not to spiral in, but to finally be named and released.
If something feels fuzzy or emotionally heavy this weekend, don’t panic. Everything is possibly going as it should. Just try to pay attention and take notes.
Our brains aren’t the oracles right now. It’s our bodies.
I’ll be the first to admit, as someone who is Mercury ruled (virgo rising) with a Gemini Midheaven (my public image or “brand”), my natural instinct is to intellectualize my way through big feelings. I can’t move on from certain feelings until I understand them. And if I understand why certain emotions are arising, then I can easily build an entire case for why everything is fine, even when it very well might not be. I can reframe, rationalize, and talk myself out of what I’m actually experiencing in real time, so this moon is directly asking people like me—and maybe you—to stop doing exactly that.
Let’s look at what’s surrounding this lunation because the full picture explains why this one might feel heavier or foggier than a typical new moon:
Mercury in Cancer is ruling this New Moon. Mercury is the planet of communication and thought, and right now it’s swimming through Cancer, the most emotionally intuitive sign of the zodiac. That means our thoughts are being filtered through our feelings, not the other way around. You might find it hard to explain what you’re thinking because you’re not really thinking it; you’re feeling it. Your words are coming from your subconscious, intuitive gut right now, and that’s not a bug—it’s the whole message.
Jupiter in Cancer will be sitting nearby, expanding everything Cancer touches: emotional safety, home, nurturance, and the part of you that just wants to feel held. This is a generous, protective influence. If you’ve been longing for more emotional security, whether in relationships, your home life, or within yourself, Jupiter is amplifying that need and blessing the seeds you plant around it.
Neptune in Aries is dissolving the ego’s grip on how you define yourself and what you think you’re supposed to want. The drive, the hustle, the “I have to do this alone” energy is softening. You might find that who you thought you were becoming is shifting into something you can’t fully name yet, and that’s not a crisis. That’s just Neptune doing its job!
All three of these planets pull this New Moon deep into the water, rendering the cosmic landscape inhospitable for rigid planning or aggressive five-step action strategies. It’s designed for feeling, dreaming, and surrendering to what your intuition already knows.
The Wild Card: Black Moon Lilith in Sagittarius
This breakdown wouldn’t be complete without talking about the opposition sitting directly across from this New Moon! Black Moon Lilith will be stationed at 19° Sagittarius, forming a direct opposition to this lunation, and she is not here to be subtle.
Lilith in astrology represents the part of you that refuses to shrink; the raw, untamed, unapologetic version of yourself that society (and sometimes your own conditioning) tried to domesticate. She’s the part of you that got told you were “too much” and decided that was fine, actually. Everyone else simply isn’t enough.
In Sagittarius, Lilith is specifically activating our relationship to belief systems, truth, freedom, and expansion. She’s asking us to reflect on the stories we've been telling ourselves just because they’re familiar, not because they’re true.
JOURNAL PROMPT: What are you holding onto because letting go feels like losing yourself, even though it’s actually what would set you free?
The opposition with the New Moon creates a cosmic tug of war between the part of you that wants to set new intentions (the New Moon) and the part of you that knows those intentions don’t have room to grow until you clear out the old belief systems, making your inner world feel crowded (Lilith).
You can’t plant seeds in soil that hasn’t been turned. That’s what this opposition is doing for you.
The rest of the cosmic backdrop for this New Moon is dense but purposeful:
Venus will have just crossed into Leo at 1°56’, sitting at one of the most initiatory degrees in astrology. A new chapter in how we love, express our worth, and show up creatively will be officially opened.
That said, Venus will be simultaneously moving toward an opposition with Pluto retrograde at Aquarius 5°10’, meaning power dynamics, emotional dependency, and anywhere love and control have gotten tangled together are surfacing right now for a reason.
What softens that intensity will be two applying Venus aspects: a tight sextile to Uranus at 0°55’ and a flowing trine to Neptune at 2°20’. Together, they feel like a direct line to inspiration being reopened. If you’ve felt creatively or spiritually blocked lately, this New Moon is specifically designed to move that.
Mercury’s separating square to Saturn shows how the mental heaviness and second-guessing from earlier in the week will already be releasing, and Mercury’s applying sextile to Mars at a tight 1°36’ orb means that once the fog lifts, our thinking and drive are going to click into alignment fast.
This is not a New Moon to hustle through.
The guidance for Sunday night is simple: slow down, get quiet, and let your subconscious do the heavy lifting. Write your intentions down, but don’t over-analyze them. Scripting, journaling, and visualization are especially potent under the 24th degree because you’re working directly with the part of your inner world that actually runs the show.
Pay close attention to your dreams this weekend too. The 24th degree is notorious for broadcasting through the Piscean sleep state, so if you wake up Sunday through Tuesday with something vivid, write it down immediately before it dissolves. It may be carrying exactly what you need for the months ahead…
The Pisces sub-influence, combined with Venus trine Neptune, is essentially a direct line back to your creative and spiritual self. If you’ve felt numb or disconnected from your intuition lately, this lunation is one of the best of the year to find your way back!

Aries Rising | 3rd House | Six of Swords Reversed
The New Moon in your house of mind and communication is asking you to move toward mental peace, but the Six of Swords Reversed says you’re not quite ready to let go of the emotional weight you’ve been carrying. Old stories about how you speak, who you are, and what you’ve been through are resurfacing to be rewritten. Plant seeds for a new voice—one that’s optimistic and self-sufficient—but give yourself grace in the process.
Affirmation: “I intentionally release the stories that keep me tethered to the past and courageously embrace the wisdom they have given me. My voice is clear, authentic, and worthy of being heard. I trust that every conversation, thought, and choice is guiding me toward greater peace, confidence, and self-expression. I welcome new perspectives with an open heart, knowing I no longer have to carry what was never mine to hold. My mind is a sanctuary of hope, my words create healing, and I am divinely guided toward the life I am meant to live.”
Taurus Rising | 2nd House | The High Priestess
This New Moon is refreshing your relationship with money, worth, and what you believe you deserve, and the High Priestess says the answers aren’t in your spreadsheet, they’re in your subconscious. There are quiet, deeply held beliefs about abundance that have been running the show, and this lunation is drawing them to the surface. Trust your intuition around what you’re ready to receive, and start acting like the hard days are behind you.
Affirmation: “I intentionally trust the wisdom within me and honor the abundance that is already finding its way to my life. I release old stories of scarcity and limitation, knowing my worth has never been defined by my circumstances. My intuition leads me toward opportunities, stability, and prosperity that align with my highest good. I am open to receiving with confidence, grace, and gratitude, believing that the seasons of struggle have prepared me for seasons of overflow. I am worthy, I am abundant, and I welcome the blessings that are divinely meant for me.”
Gemini Rising | 1st House | Five of Swords Reversed
A New Moon in your 1st house is a full identity reset, and the Five of Swords Reversed is confirmation that you’re walking away from a version of yourself built around conflict, self-editing, or proving something. The battles that kept you small are winding down, and now the question is whether you’ll actually let yourself be free. Your authenticity is the seed being planted here.
Affirmation: “I intentionally release the need to fight for my worth and free myself from the stories that taught me to shrink, hide, or prove who I am. I embrace my authentic self with courage, compassion, and confidence, knowing that my truth is my greatest strength. I choose peace over conflict, self-acceptance over self-criticism, and growth over fear. With every step forward, I become more aligned with my highest potential and attract relationships and opportunities that honor the real me. I trust that by being unapologetically myself, I create a life that is abundant, meaningful, and beautifully my own.”
Cancer Rising | 12th House | Knight of Pentacles
The New Moon is activating your house of the subconscious and spiritual surrender, and the Knight of Pentacles is asking you to take a slow, steady, committed approach to what’s happening beneath the surface. This isn’t the time to rush toward action, it’s the time to build a private, consistent practice that supports the inner work. Journal, rest, grieve what needs grieving, and trust that the roots you’re growing now will matter later.
Affirmation: “I intentionally honor the quiet seasons of my soul, trusting that every moment of rest, reflection, and healing is guiding me toward my highest path. I release the need to rush my growth and embrace the steady rhythm of divine timing. My inner world is fertile ground for peace, wisdom, and renewal, and the loving practices I nurture today become the blessings I harvest tomorrow. I trust what I cannot yet see, knowing that every prayer, tear, and act of self-compassion is building a foundation for lasting abundance. I am safe to surrender, committed to my healing, and divinely supported every step of the way.”
Leo Rising | 11th House | The Emperor Reversed
This New Moon is calling you to reimagine your community, your audience, and the future you’re building, and the Emperor Reversed is a signal that old structures around authority, control, or belonging aren’t serving you anymore. You may be outgrowing a group, a vision, or a version of leadership that was never really yours to begin with. Plant seeds for a circle that actually sees you, and lead from authenticity rather than obligation.
Affirmation: “I intentionally release the expectations, roles, and obligations that no longer align with my authentic path. I trust that I do not have to control, conform, or diminish myself to belong. I courageously create space for friendships, communities, and opportunities that honor my truth and celebrate my unique gifts. I lead with integrity, compassion, and confidence, knowing that my authenticity inspires the right people to walk beside me. I welcome a future filled with meaningful connections, shared purpose, and the freedom to shine as my truest self. I am worthy of a community that sees me, supports me, and grows with me.”
Virgo Rising | 10th House | Six of Wands & Queen of Cups
The New Moon is spotlighting your career and public reputation, and this two-card pull tells a full story: the Six of Wands says visible success and recognition are available to you, while the Queen of Cups says the way you get there is through emotional intelligence and leading with heart. Your professional evolution right now is deeply tied to how fully you trust yourself. The visibility you’ve been building is ready to meet you, so step into it.
Affirmation: “I intentionally step into the highest expression of my purpose with confidence, grace, and an open heart. I trust that my gifts, wisdom, and dedication are worthy of being seen and celebrated. I lead with compassion, intuition, and authenticity, knowing that true success comes from honoring both my ambition and my soul. I release the fear of being visible and welcome the recognition, opportunities, and abundance that align with my highest good. With every courageous step I take, I inspire others while creating a legacy rooted in kindness, integrity, and self-trust. I am ready to be seen, I am ready to lead, and I am ready to receive the blessings my efforts have cultivated.”
Libra Rising | 9th House | Queen of Cups Reversed
The New Moon in your house of expansion and belief is asking what you truly stand for, and the Queen of Cups Reversed suggests you’ve been softening your truth to keep things comfortable. Emotional avoidance or people-pleasing has been quietly shaping the narrative you put out into the world. The invitation now is to say what you actually believe, plainly and without apology.
Affirmation: “I intentionally honor my truth and trust the wisdom of my own heart above the expectations of others. I release the need to soften my voice, hide my beliefs, or sacrifice my authenticity for acceptance. My emotions are sacred guides, helping me discern what aligns with my highest good and what no longer belongs on my path. I courageously express my perspectives with clarity, compassion, and confidence, knowing that my truth creates deeper connection and greater freedom. I welcome new experiences, higher understanding, and soul-aligned opportunities that reflect who I am becoming. I trust myself, I speak my truth, and I am worthy of a life built upon authenticity and inner peace.”
Scorpio Rising | 8th House | The Hermit Reversed
This New Moon lands in your most transformative house, and the Hermit Reversed suggests you’ve been in isolation or introspection longer than it’s serving you—the inner work is ready to move. Psychological layers are surfacing right now that are asking to be integrated, not just examined. Plant seeds for radical honesty in your closest dynamics and let what you’ve learned in the depths finally inform how you show up.
Affirmation: “I intentionally release the walls that no longer protect my growth and trust that the wisdom I have gained is ready to be shared with the world. I honor every season of solitude, healing, and self-discovery, knowing they have transformed me into someone stronger, wiser, and more compassionate. I courageously embrace vulnerability, allowing honesty and authenticity to deepen my relationships and strengthen my spirit. I release fear, shame, and old emotional burdens, creating space for trust, intimacy, and profound renewal. I welcome the transformations unfolding within me, knowing that every ending is making way for a more empowered beginning. I am safe to be seen, safe to evolve, and safe to step fully into the life I am meant to live.”
Sagittarius Rising | 7th House | The Magician Reversed
The New Moon is beginning a new chapter in your one-on-one relationships, and the Magician Reversed is pointing to untapped potential or power that’s been misdirected in how you show up in partnership. You may have been giving your energy away, downplaying your gifts, or waiting for someone else to initiate what only you can create. The invitation is to come back to yourself fully and let your relationships meet you there.
Affirmation: “I intentionally reclaim my power and trust that everything I need to create meaningful, fulfilling relationships already exists within me. I release the patterns of overgiving, self-doubt, and waiting for others to define my worth or my path. I honor my unique gifts, my voice, and my truth, allowing them to guide the connections I cultivate. I attract partnerships built on mutual respect, authenticity, and shared growth because I show up as my whole and genuine self. I trust my ability to co-create love, harmony, and abundance without sacrificing who I am. I am empowered, I am worthy, and the relationships meant for me will rise to meet the fullness of my light.”
Capricorn Rising | 6th House | Three of Wands Reversed
The New Moon is resetting your daily routines and how you care for yourself, and the Three of Wands Reversed says expansion has felt delayed or blocked—plans that should’ve taken off haven’t quite launched. Some of what’s draining your daily life isn’t circumstantial, it’s rooted in patterns you haven’t fully named yet. Plant seeds for rhythms that actually nourish you, not just ones that look productive from the outside.
Affirmation: “I intentionally release the patterns, expectations, and habits that leave me depleted and disconnected from my true needs. I trust that every delay, detour, and pause is guiding me toward a life that is more aligned, sustainable, and fulfilling. I choose daily rhythms that nourish my mind, body, and spirit, knowing that my well-being is the foundation of my success. I honor my energy as a sacred resource and create space for rest, joy, and purposeful action to exist in harmony. I welcome new opportunities that support my growth without requiring me to abandon myself. I am building a life of balance, abundance, and lasting fulfillment, one intentional step at a time.”
Aquarius Rising | 5th House | Five of Cups
The New Moon is landing in your house of creativity, joy, and self-expression, and the Five of Cups is honest: there’s been grief here, a mourning of something that didn’t go the way you hoped in love or creative life. But this card always has cups still standing, and this lunation is asking you to turn toward them. Plant seeds for creating from pure joy again, and let yourself be found by what was always meant for you.
Affirmation: “I intentionally honor what I have lost, what has changed, and what has not unfolded as I once hoped, allowing myself to feel it fully without turning away. I release the weight of disappointment and gently redirect my focus toward the joy, love, and inspiration that still exist within and around me. My creativity is not diminished by my past—it is deepened by everything I have experienced. I give myself permission to create, play, and express from a place of honesty, softness, and renewed hope. I trust that joy is not gone from me, only waiting to be rediscovered in new forms. I open my heart to what is still possible and allow life to meet me again through inspiration, love, and authentic self-expression.”
Pisces Rising | 4th House | The Tower Sideways, Pointing to the Past
The New Moon is touching your most private and foundational house, and the Tower sideways—pointing to the past—says the upheaval isn’t coming, it already happened. You’re in the aftermath of something that shook your sense of home, family, or inner safety, and this lunation is the beginning of rebuilding on solid ground. Tend to your emotional foundation with real care, because what you heal privately right now will directly unlock your voice publicly.
Affirmation: “I intentionally acknowledge the foundations that have shifted, broken, or transformed in my life, and I honor myself for surviving what once felt overwhelming. I release the need to relive the past in order to understand it, and I choose instead to focus on rebuilding my sense of safety, stability, and inner peace. I am creating a home within myself that is steady, nurturing, and resilient, regardless of external circumstances. I allow myself to heal at my own pace, trusting that every act of self-care strengthens my emotional foundation. What once shook me is now becoming the ground I stand on with greater wisdom and strength. I am safe to rebuild, safe to soften, and safe to begin again.”
This New Moon in Gemini is planting seeds in the places we’ve been afraid to speak, start over, or go deeper. Whatever house it’s activating for you, the invitation is the same—show up honestly, trust what’s stirring, and give the next version of yourself room to grow💛
